MIBOR's Commitment to Antitrust Compliance
MIBOR REALTORĀ® Association is a not-for-profit trade association committed to empowering our members, strengthening the marketplace, and improving the business conditions of the local real estate industry. Whenever competing (or potentially competing) businesses gather, there is the risk of antitrust liability or of the appearance of anti-competitive activity. Penalties for violating antitrust laws can include huge damage awards and even criminal liability. Just defending an antitrust suit or being the object of an investigation by antitrust regulators comes with very high costs. These costs and liabilities could accrue to MIBOR and to member businesses and individuals accused of participating in alleged anti-competitive activity.
Consequently, MIBOR is committed to compliance with all international, national, and state antitrust and competition laws. This policy is thus intended to prevent any anti-competitive conduct as well as the appearance of anti-competitive conduct. Any discussion inconsistent with these principles will not be tolerated. As such, the following discussion topics are always prohibited: agreements to fix prices, limit product or service offerings, allocate geographical territory or customers, and refuse to deal.
