Property Shield Tool

Property Shield Tool

MIBOR has partnered with Property Shield to introduce a tool that will protect homeowners from potential fraudulent activity.  Property Shield is a fraud management solution that will safeguard real estate in our area and protect any current listings that are on the market.  With the increase of fraud and sensitive data being captured by scammers and the like, Property Shield monitors the use of unauthorized data.  With the use of AI technology, MIBOR members can protect their listings, give property owners peace of mind, and maintain data integrity.

Here's how it works:

MIBOR BLC subscribers will log into the MIBOR Central platform and click on the Property Shield icon within their tools menu.

Adjusting Notification Settings

You are able to adjust your notification preferences, and it is done from within the Property Shield dashboard.  First, you will need to log in using SSO from you BLC Dashboard or use THIS LINK.  Once logged in, you will be on the home page.  In the top right-hand corner, you will see a bell icon.  Click on the bell and notification options will appear.  Simply click on the notification you would like to turn on or off from here.  Highlighted blue means that the notification is turned on.  White means the notification is turned off.

Notification Definitions

           · Instant Email Notifications – An email will instantly be sent to you each time we find a potential fraudulent listing
associated with your property. This option will initially be turned on and is recommended for all agents.
            · Instant SMS Notification – An SMS message will instantly be sent to you each time we find a potential fraudulent
               listing associated with your property.
            · Daily Summary Notification – An email will be sent daily at 11:00 am ET giving you a summary of all the potential fraud
listings we have found the previous day associated with your properties.
            · Weekly Summary Notification – An email will be sent Monday at 11:00 am ET giving you a summary of all the potential
fraudulent listings we found the previous week associated with your properties. This option will be automatically turned
on and is recommended for all Brokers and Office Managers.

If a potential threat of fraud is detected, the listing agent will receive an email alert (example below).  Click on the Visit Listing option to view the website where the potentially fraudulent listing or post is located.

In this example, the potentially fraudulent post is on the Facebook platform.

The list agent will navigate to the Review Pending Listing section.  They will select "This is a fraudulent ad" or "This is not a fraudulent ad".

If they select This is not a fraudulent ad, the agent will see an additional prompt and select This is a valid listing posted by my company or select This listing belongs to another company or address then select Update.

If the agent selects This is a fraudulent ad and Update, Property Shield will begin their process to remove the fraudulent ad.

Once Property Shield has removed any phony ads, they will continue monitoring the address as it is found on other websites.  You can view the activity within the dashboard in Property Shield and also see the number of times the fraudulent ads have been removed under the Takedowns column.

Note:

Fraudulent ads may be posted on websites that include but are not limited to:

-Affordable Housing.com
-Craigslist
-Facebook Marketplace
-realtor.com
-rent.com
-Zillow
-Zumper
