What happens to my listings if I change brokerages?
The originating brokerage is responsible for collecting the closing documents and updating the listing if the listing remained with the brokerage when the agent transferred. If the brokerage has agreed to allow the transferring agent to "take their listings with them" then the agent must complete a Mutual Release with the sellers for the original listing and execute a new listing agreement under the new brokerage.
Contracts with sellers and buyers are taken with the brokerage responsible for the agent activity. If the agent changes brokerages, the originating brokerage must agree to release the listing or sales contracts facilitated by the agent and allow the new brokerage to take on the contracts.
