Firmware Update Messaging

The Master Lock Bluetooth Lock Boxes (5440/5441) will have a firmware update available on February 27, 2024. The firmware updates are not mandatory but are recommended for all users to complete on locks registered in Master Lock Vault Enterprise as it supports new features including the Lock Reset and Configurable Temporary Code. As the firmware update is not mandatory, the lock will still be able to function fully if the end user ignores the update available. Below are more detailed instructions on where to find firmware updates, how to do a firmware update, and troubleshooting tips. An important note and reminder is that once the firmware update is initiated, the phone needs to remain by the lock until the update is completed. If they walk away or it gets interrupted, the whole process needs to be initiated again to restart the update.

Below are important notes about Firmware Updates to Locks:

  • Firmware Update Troubleshooting Tips
    • If the FW update is started and gets interrupted (you walk away during the FW update or data/wifi cuts off) it will go into bootloader mode
    • If a lock is in bootloader mode it cannot locked/unlocked via Bluetooth or codes until the FW update is complete
    • Wake up the lock and re-initiate the firmware update making sure to stay by the lock and stay online
